Description of a Detailed Chart Study

The Chart Study displayed is put together under many different protocol requirements and represents a study that incorporates sub-studies.

The overlays are:

Bollinger Bands at default with a dotted 20 day average
-20 day SMA used for closing price over the average buy signals.
-50 day SMA used for bullish trend indications.
-%B overlay for leading topping indications (confirmed with lower supporting indicators... volatility) this is the Black overlay that measures the extent of the Bollinger volatility.

12,26,9 is used to identify trends over the signal line, and to present bullish divergence signals for a down trending price action.

12,26,9 MACD is specifically placed above the CMF 20 so that momentum can be estimated to the MACD moves.

Sto RSI 14 is charting the below RSI 14
RSI 14 is a top and bottom indicator.

Slow stock 100,50 at these settings is a leading trend reversal indication

Full Sto 25,5,5 is a modified setting and is placed above the Aroon 25 to be a complimentary visual signal for the Aroon indicator.

An oversold Sto 25,5,5 and a peaking brown Aroon always squeeze before a reversal especially in a hot broad market. The squeeze can cover a long period in a down trend, when they move in opposite directions out of a squeeze expanding, you should be very alert for bounces, or breakouts of a ranging stock establishing.

Slow Stock 39 is a stand alone stochastic modified to give oversold and overbought signals in a ranging market.

The three settings of Stock RSI are a sub study of core strength showing quick to very long moves. Strong up trends will show the Stock RSI 140 above 80, dips while above 80 have a better than average chance of bouncing off lower bollinger touches.

Slow STO 200,100 and MACD modified 48,72,24 cross overs in a strong market can be quick on news or lead slowly on supply diminishing, and are trend reversal indications for bigger moves.

Volume is set for 250 day average so that bars crossing the average are strong volume moves.

Public List Simplified

Quite often I fall into the trap of falling in love and as such I can be blind, so over the last few months I have made an attempt to simplify the net result of charting into a single study in the public list that is easier to maintain so that I can more easily focus, and present my runners, and dump the rejects... Posts previous to this where applicable, seem to have maintained their link to the old list, so for now, it may still be available until Stock Charts cuts the link.

URC.V

I watch Level II and get a feel for the trades as they move through in blocks... without the manipulation such as huge Naked shorting blocks, I think I have it down to a science that would take a person as much time as it took me to perfect. Maybe less, I think I can actually see the move.

Charting consists of the practiced use of the many tools presented on the main website.

I consider shares out... in this case reasonable, not bad not good...
Last financing... coming soon...
Resource estimate... better than most
Price... technically appears to be in the middle of a reaction bounce from a new low, (.10) and looks to have room to move, the bounce was quick, and the accumulation has been taking place in the .13 to .165 area, and as soon as the... consolidation pans out of the pop... it should move higher.

I have passed it through a gauntlet of chart studies, (20 in all), and, the majority show positive diversion and a leading price move, coming out of low volume, (bottom signal in this case) that on level II has shown only back fill patterns as of this post.

Charts indicate the up move is still intact, and over multiple chart studies, I am seeing multiple buy signals... the only thing I'm afraid of is NAKED SHORTING, AS THE UP TICK RULE NO LONGER APPLIES IN CANADA... SHORT SQUEEZES ARE DEAD.

Admittedly, August is the low of the summer doldrums... good
Admittedly, Technical analysis can be an untrustworthy friend in the doldrums, yet the relative price to the last high is in solid bounce territory for at least the short term. Ground control to Captain Kirk... get ready to lift off... there's no intelligent life down here.

Past picks

Will a double digit trading share price for Taseko come to pass as predicted... the quality of the guru recommendation suggests, it is not if but when, support best buy 4.89.

For entertainment only.

SQI.v is looking strong. support best buy .34 cents

BKX.v is looking strong. support best buy 2.35 to 2.40

TBE.to is looking strong. support best buy 1.38

EVG.v (is ranging, was down, could reverse soon... it has moved above the 20 day average.) best buy tight stop mental .93

Looking back...

BKX didn't prove to be much more than a wild ride as of today, and without going into too much chit chat, looks to be heading lower, but for the nimble it provided a noteworthy swing.

SQI has been quite the performer, and promises to keep it up, but in the end, it will top too.

TBE has been dead in the water, however, when the broad market wakens, has a chance to recover.

EVG... Now here's a story of interest... From all the charting I have done on it, to the mainstream, the trend is down, but, using positive diversion to try and get the lead on a price move (price before volume) and considering the absolutely strong fundamentals, the only conclusion is that the price is being pushed down with underhanded naked shorting mixed in with some natural consolidation and a couple of non-conformitive mixes of trader flux.

Add in a new speculation URC.V and you have the two most recent purchases, that if one were to make the same move, would likely result in a bit better buy than I have managed to garner for myself. They look good for an up move of unknown distance.

Fast Forward

In the previous couple of posts, I suggested the standard method of portfolio protection would be to take heed of the go away in May (and the looming head and shoulders), and come back late fall. In particular, because I follow only the Canadian exchanges, this particular yearly phenominum has a consistent meaning. Had I filled the pages with what I consider to be wasted breath while waiting for something of note to print, the point would have been missed listening to myself patter on, leaving a huge pile of bung that would keep any person, who may have been reading i,t from making the connection to today's post. Alas, I'm sure it was a test of patience.

As well, I like to keep posts short; it seems that those of my persuasion like to be able to do the dirty without much reading, so that long winded posts often only get scanned with the real meat, often being mis-interptreted, which then leads to some newbie crack while eating glass from the crystal ball.

Therefore, I often break up posts with posts, such that each post provides the pause that refreshes. Buy my own measure.... it was certainly the right thing to do as the usual market drop occurred with startling accuracy, and as usual the mainstream cooked up a complicated scenario that would be their epitaph in hind site, for a happening that would have taken place without any speculation on their part. Talking heads.

BKX.TO

When viewed on my TD Water House chart using the Level II display, the chart shows an uptrend with little sellers along any part of the path, so long as the price doesn't move too radical, sell off is rather low in volatility and easily recovers... considering the most recent news releases... this stock appears to be breaking out to a new high. A look at the chart, and you can see nothing but white candles...

I should mention that this chart needs to be viewed with a certain knowledge of how it compares to, say a Stock Charts chart, so that if you look to the period where the price rises two or three candles above the black 20 day average, and compare them to a stock Charts chart... you will see a comparable spike and very graphically displayed in the Stock charts chart. So in this chart we can see two spikes. This chart tends to smooth out the volatility visually, and can be a tad bullish in most interpretations, but the trending is more easily apparent.

The look of this chart often tells the story without much ado.... It just looks good... It also appears to have little attention from institutions who are trading (selling)and as such the chart appears to illustrate holding or accumulation.

The stockRSI (140) in the Stock Charts Landscape view in the public charts list Stock Charts Public Chart List shows a very strong up trend and with the lack of volatility associated with a top, it seems to want to keep on climbing.... I should also mention that that this visual lack of sellers can result in a seriously solid run. Everything depends on the pipeline...

Summer doldrum picks.

Forming Bases

This post is based on the strategy and observations in the post at the above link.

As a result I have put together a couple of stocks that appear to be qualifying for the honor of being so distinguished.

They have particularly strong fundamental speculation to undeniable fundamental strength which is priced at cheap levels compared to potential share pricing as a longer hold when compared to peers. These stocks are bubbling for a lack of better description and displaying a pattern on Level II that suggests in the face of of the coming go away in May, they have the strength to weather the consolidation they are experiencing.

I would not advise taking a position in more than one or two as the the market is full of distribution, such that diversification can have a broad market downside consolidation on your portfolio, so that diversification can work against you resulting in an overall decline in portfolio value even though you pick some good value. It is one thing to diversify in a broad market upswing and completely another to diversify in a market that is mildly bullish approaching a head and shoulder pattern. Of course diversification is supposed to limit the downside risk, but don't push it to the limit in a consolidation unless you really want to.

These picks should not be considered to provide an opportunity for serious pops or spikes but if they do, consider it as a bonus. These picks are for parking money into lower risk plays that are holding strong in a consolidating market, and have reasonable potential to remain in the uptrend. By my standards, these stocks are in an uptrend as of this post.

They are steadily slowly pushing against resistance, and when they break through traders quickly take profits, (why you shouldn't chase) only when the supply is weak does the price pop and real breakouts can occur. Back fill is taken for granted and taking a position should be from the bid at no more than 4 % above the previous days close.

TKO is destined for greatness... so they say, and the fundamentals back it up... It is in an up trend most definitely, and if it delivers, the potential operating margin is comparable to one stock trading at 39.00 US (GG) Goldcorp.

"Foolish gold guru Christopher Barker puts the potential for Taseko's operating margin on the same level (if not ahead of) that of Goldcorp (NYSE: GG) and Yamana, and marvels at Taseko's ability to generate an estimated production cost of negative -($330) per ounce of gold from its Prosperity mine once all the copper byproducts are calculated in. It's why he says Taseko has mapped out a future that's paved with gold -- but the miner trades at 10% lower than when he wrote that."

IMOP
Foolish picks tend be in the mid to large cap area and more expensive and boast an investor type following which is more likely to be minus the extreme pops in favor of swings that can be TAed for a long term hold and gain.

Will a double digit trading share price for Taseko come to pass as predicted... the quality of the guru recomendation suggests, it is not if but when. support best buy 4.89.
