Update MDL.V Rare Earth Need to Know
There comes a time when an opportunity to gamble somewhat resembles an investment... In the gold and silver market, there are more contenders than you can shake a stick at, and gold and silver, though hard to find in economical grades and commercial size with a feasibility road map.. has some good prospects, but the landscape is so large as to the selection of issues for taking a position in any individual stock... the money is definitely spread around as in an investor resource finding a home... making for agonizing appreciation.
In Rare Earths this is not the case... there are are only a few real contenders, and rare earth has only a few real locations that can produce the size and grade for commercial economics...
After having a look at the field chartwise and considering basic projects... along with potential exuberance... I'm not advocating a position, but what's 1000 shares at this point... MDL.V is the only #1 management with Micky Fulp speak... and is still under a dollar with all other peers in the $1.50 ... $5.00 and $6.00 range...
Here's a link to the lottery...

Technically a position under ..................... .50 cents suggests some type of gain going foreword, and if........ just if............ MDL lands the third project the good doctor eludes to... think possible ballistic...
In the interest of studying potential ballistic exuberance... this one is added to the 2011 pick list... as a trader, and core holding.

Update GQC.V
A quick review of the trading history suggests that the majority of the early warrant exercise shares are still out there... 8 million plus.... so expect a rush in the next 2 weeks as retail moves out of the stock into what they percieve as better options, and the last minute warrants pile drive... Seems the logical human reaction.

Update GQC.V
One of the things which makes this stock valuable to me is that it is in an uptrend (although the ADX is showing it moving into a consolidation... there are three areas of support, and they are the drawn trend lines, and finally the 200 day average)... Even though we have a MACD average crossover, it is above the trigger line, saying we're still in business... with a hard target... we have a known factor ( 9 million plus Early forced warrants that are worth .20 cents to purchase selling on the open market, and will expire worthless as of Jan 24th 2011)... as we get closer to the 24th... we may see a nice move down that may provide an opportunity to acquire a position at a much lower price... don't forget there has been what appears to be some retail shorters ... out of thier minds IMOP, but still possible they think this is a good opportunity...
This link is to a dedicated chart looking for the buy signal... as we don't know where support will actually come in .... I'm using a stochastic oscillator to pick the moment... keep in mind this stock is above the 200 day average... at .20 cents... so support is really strong in the .22 cent area. Factor in the Coffin Factor and I'm really watching this close... I making a what if speculation... they announce a financing at a premium like in the .35 to 40 cent area after the 24th... this could be a nice catch...

Update GQC.V
The early call of the warrants will likely generate an action from now to within the the first two weeks of January 2011... It makes sense that there should be some confusion as the 9 million shares attempt to make the most of the ambient price... at what price though will accumulation step in...
Any strength will likely be sold into... there was a short presence of 100,000 that was covering as of DEC 15th.. by accident or by purpose that short will add more pressure...
A company issues such an early expiration notice for a few reasons.... Basically warrants are issued in the first place by the company to generate cash flow for projects. By forcing the exercise... the company can generate cash in times when they might not be able to get financing (which is not the case here IMOP ).
They can put money in the bank without dilution, and possibly if a financing may be needed in the future... these warrants would be an added burden to the float... so clearing them out now before further price rise would be be in the best interest of both the company and the retail investors (IMOP). They were always there, now we know the timeline.
The fact that they have not been exercised is likely a good sign that the holders expected higher prices to come.
The best we can hope to anticipate the final outcome is to wait for nine million shares traffic to pass (or January 24th 2011 when they become worthless)... and witness the action starting the Dec 29th to 31st... If there is no bidding strength... this would be helpful in holding the price up as sellers would only sell to sizable bids rather than jump for a loss, however since the strike is .20 cents... this wouldn't be much of a factor.
Having said that... the aftermath would likely be share price appreciation and bode well for a future financing at higher prices where the financiers would be able make a better decision without having to factor in an existing warrant situation.
This is likely the reason for near term future financing... While an inconvenience... the early call of warrants puts things on a better footing.

Update GQC.V
This news release may bring the price down... It is much the same as a financing at.20 cents... Hope you kept some powder dry... The reaction should spook some selling...
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 24, 2010) - GoldQuest Mining Corp. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:GQC)(FRANKFURT:M1W) advises that it will issue on December 24, 2010 early expiry notices to the holders of approximately 9,465,400 share purchase warrants (the "Warrants") which were purchased and issued pursuant to a unit private placement which was completed in April 2010 (the "Closing Date"). The Warrants are exercisable to purchase one common share per warrant at a price of $0.20 per share.
The Warrants contain a provision whereby if the weighted average trading price of the Company's common shares for 10 consecutive trading days between the date that is four months following the Closing Date and the expiry date of the warrants exceeds $0.35 on each of those consecutive days, the Company may give notice in writing (the "Early Expiry Notice") to the Warrant holder within 30 days of such an occurrence that the Warrants shall expire at 4:00 p.m. (Vancouver time) on the 30th day following the giving of such Early Expiry Notice, which will be January 24, 2011 (the "Early Expiry Date"), unless exercised by the Warrant holder prior to the Early Expiry Date. The Company's common shares have now traded at a weighted average price of greater than $0.35 for 10 consecutive days. Any Warrants remaining unexercised after the Early Expiry Date will be cancelled and will be of no force or effect.
Although it is unknown how many of the Warrants will be exercised, in the event that all presently outstanding Warrants are exercised, the Company will receive approximately $1,893,080 which will be added to working capital.
The Company has received to date $257,000 from the exercise of 1,285,000 Warrants issued pursuant to the aforementioned private placement.

Update GQC.V
GQC.V has a great looking chart and the overall suggestion in spite of the recent price ranging, is that we are in a strong uptrend... the shorts are small and covering... On Balance is up, so if anybody is shorting into this chart.. unless they are institutional.... they are going to eat it (IMOP). I had a funny thought and probably should keep it to myself, but I like to share....... so.... it is possible we would be moving faster, but if those shorts are mainly retail... only retail would short into a rising trend... (without institutional presence in a broad market downtrend it is somewhat suicidle to short without great experience)........ this whippy bit of rising consolidation could be made up of "BUY ON STOP" cover orders (kind of like a stop loss run)... Been there before and that's why I only short in a broad down market................

Update SQI.V
Looking over the short data it can be seen that the shorts have been hitting the bid (It's legal to do that... no uptick rule in place anymore)... as the short positions have indeed risen over the Dec 1 to Dec 15th period and likely the pressure continues... It could be just a tactic that is being used to get a best price over the Santa Rally period... (who knows), but I use an indicator of which to be honest is said to be representative of Institutional distribution and accumulation.... although much like the On Balance Vol..... which is said to represent retail exubeerance.... the Accumulation/Distribution (Accum/Dist l) derives the average calculations much the same, but does over a longer time frame... If they both are tracking up in an uptrend... it seems such stocks they track are on a tear.... IF THEY HAVE BEEN CONTRARY THEN WHEN THE ACCUM/DIST TURNS UP... CAN BE LIKE A ROCKET.
A Stock can be on an uptrend with On balance bullish and tracking up even in the face a down trending Accumulation/distribution... Institutions selling the retailers, but the demand is strong enough to run the price up even with the selling into strength.... When I examine the two indicators side by side... I can see the ON Balance (retail) is ranging.... and the Accumulation/distribution (institutional is selling) falling... (Certainly could be construed as an over sold condition), but it is also potential stop loss run... I was not happy to see the shorts putting the pressure on.... I AM READY FOR A SURPRISE MOVE IN EITHER DIRECTION... Maybe a reaction bounce coming soon......... the dip before the pop(a common occurance)..... or just remove the short... it could be whippy.

If there is no cash flow, Explorers need to stay on top of projects is the biggest concern..... FT shares .475 cents and warrants @.55 is a sign to buy... now it all comes down to charting the move.
URC.V 4,000,000 @ .30 cents... turns this into a hold... they really needed the money!

Updates
Each of these issues has a solid speculation angle and as such from a technical point of view:
EVG.V - the chart holds a comparison position to DML.TO when it was @ 1.65... Lot's of room to move, unless Bin Laden comes out his cave, and naked shorts it... we can expect the bottoming pattern to mature with a solid breakout above the 200 day average over time.
AME - V is churning, but holding a breakout pattern.
DML.TO is looking to find new highs, and with exuberance I would bet we will see $4.00 + sometime before April 2011. Uranium up the ying yang.
LI.V - charts continue suggest lower bottom touches are low risk entries.
URC.V is choppy, but charting suggest an NI 43-101... 44 M lbs Insitu will take the price higher... most uraniums will continue higher over time post consolidations.
TME.V - undecided.
SQI.V - Is in a strong position with huge support against a thin spotty ask.. It is battling some technical resistance at .76 as expected, but longer term indications are in a trending north condition, a bit more ranging to the right should creep up as these weak hand traders get flushed, and end up chasing.

Updates
I have been expanding my presence on the Stockhouse boards using my old board name Toot... Have revamped my outdated watch lists, and posted the list that I technically chart. Charting is best done on stocks with specific requirements that tend to make charting more effective.
Of the list, I have taken positions in three stocks that have been recently financed (to remove the speculation of financing) have good news in the pipe line... and have had recent news or opinions expressed in the media I follow. The rest are in various stages of consolidation with a few bottom picks thrown in. They all have started some type of breakout with the exception of the bottom picks... this list is my official dip picking list.
Charts have been posted to the Stock Charts Public list that reflect a more simplified presentation..
I intend to post two charts for each issue. (comments where appropriate and time permits). One chart short term and the other, medium to long term trend position. I think the comparison will enlighten anyone so inclined to take a shot at chart watching.
GPR is a silver story breaking the 200 day average on volume. could be spiky and choppy.
DML is one of the best (IMOP) priced producing Uranium companies coming off support at the 200 day average I can see... although PDN has finally showed some color. I like DML the most because of the charting pposition, lower price, and it is easy to imagine 100% . with lots of room to make the move over the next 4 months when compared to other issues coming from the same technical position..
CUM has a lot of shares out but this is not a concern as the bricks have been well laid... consider BBD/B.to and it's share float.... I like the targets and it level IIs' moves well with apparently stable back fills and new highs for the time being. It too charts well on a trending study, and swinging seems a long way off if the chart can be trusted. Fundamentals in financing and resources seem to sit well with investors jumping on. It is hard to find investors these days, so I like that fundamental.
I'm trying to take a position in a lithium play that is one of PG's contracts. I jumped the gun ( took a small loss and am re-positioning... wont average down on a chart like that). With the charting failing to provide any visible relief from selling indications.... with Level II selling from the side which denotes hits from above that only come with panic or shorting IMOP... since the volume and speed of decent don't fit panic, I feel naked shorting. The fly in the ointment is a Canaccord financing... my experience with them is a sometimes quick, sometimes slow death spiral in share price. I have expressed my concerns on the RM.V board , but don't feel it would be fair to beat the subject to death. I shall continue posting there, but try and maintain a positive approach. I wont be posting predictions

Past picks
Will a double digit trading share price for Taseko come to pass as predicted... the quality of the guru recommendation suggests, it is not if but when, support best buy 4.89.
For entertainment only.
SQI.v is looking strong. support best buy .34 cents
BKX.v is looking strong. support best buy 2.35 to 2.40
TBE.to is looking strong. support best buy 1.38
EVG.v (is ranging, was down, could reverse soon... it has moved above the 20 day average.) best buy tight stop mental .93
Looking back...
BKX didn't prove to be much more than a wild ride as of today, and without going into too much chit chat, looks to be heading lower, but for the nimble it provided a noteworthy swing.
SQI has been quite the performer, and promises to keep it up, but in the end, it will top too.
TBE has been dead in the water, however, when the broad market wakens, has a chance to recover.
EVG... Now here's a story of interest... From all the charting I have done on it, to the mainstream, the trend is down, but, using positive diversion to try and get the lead on a price move (price before volume) and considering the absolutely strong fundamentals, the only conclusion is that the price is being pushed down with underhanded naked shorting mixed in with some natural consolidation and a couple of non-conformitive mixes of trader flux.
Add in a new speculation URC.V and you have the two most recent purchases, that if one were to make the same move, would likely result in a bit better buy than I have managed to garner for myself. They look good for an up move of unknown distance.

Summer doldrum picks.
Forming Bases
This post is based on the strategy and observations in the post at the above link.
As a result I have put together a couple of stocks that appear to be qualifying for the honor of being so distinguished.
They have particularly strong fundamental speculation to undeniable fundamental strength which is priced at cheap levels compared to potential share pricing as a longer hold when compared to peers. These stocks are bubbling for a lack of better description and displaying a pattern on Level II that suggests in the face of of the coming go away in May, they have the strength to weather the consolidation they are experiencing.
I would not advise taking a position in more than one or two as the the market is full of distribution, such that diversification can have a broad market downside consolidation on your portfolio, so that diversification can work against you resulting in an overall decline in portfolio value even though you pick some good value. It is one thing to diversify in a broad market upswing and completely another to diversify in a market that is mildly bullish approaching a head and shoulder pattern. Of course diversification is supposed to limit the downside risk, but don't push it to the limit in a consolidation unless you really want to.
These picks should not be considered to provide an opportunity for serious pops or spikes but if they do, consider it as a bonus. These picks are for parking money into lower risk plays that are holding strong in a consolidating market, and have reasonable potential to remain in the uptrend. By my standards, these stocks are in an uptrend as of this post.
They are steadily slowly pushing against resistance, and when they break through traders quickly take profits, (why you shouldn't chase) only when the supply is weak does the price pop and real breakouts can occur. Back fill is taken for granted and taking a position should be from the bid at no more than 4 % above the previous days close.
TKO is destined for greatness... so they say, and the fundamentals back it up... It is in an up trend most definitely, and if it delivers, the potential operating margin is comparable to one stock trading at 39.00 US (GG) Goldcorp.
"Foolish gold guru Christopher Barker puts the potential for Taseko's operating margin on the same level (if not ahead of) that of Goldcorp (NYSE: GG) and Yamana, and marvels at Taseko's ability to generate an estimated production cost of negative -($330) per ounce of gold from its Prosperity mine once all the copper byproducts are calculated in. It's why he says Taseko has mapped out a future that's paved with gold -- but the miner trades at 10% lower than when he wrote that."
IMOP
Foolish picks tend be in the mid to large cap area and more expensive and boast an investor type following which is more likely to be minus the extreme pops in favor of swings that can be TAed for a long term hold and gain.
Will a double digit trading share price for Taseko come to pass as predicted... the quality of the guru recomendation suggests, it is not if but when. support best buy 4.89.
